In collaboration with Alachua County and Rebuilding Together North Central Florida (RTNCF), the Alachua County Energy Efficiency Program (ACEEP) is designed to help reduce utility costs for low-income tenants by creating a fund to improve the energy efficiency of rental units. The program aims to alleviate the financial burden of energy efficiency upgrades from landlords, ensuring that tenants do not bear the costs. Through the program, participants can request various home upgrades, such as better attic insulation, new air-conditioners, and energy-efficient appliances, with each rental unit eligible for up to $15,000 in improvements.

Property owners who participate must agree to maintain the affordability of the unit for a specific period, depending on the amount of the award. This commitment is secured through a Land Use Restriction Agreement (LURA), which ensures the property remains part of the affordable housing rental market for the agreed timeframe. If the property is removed from the affordable housing market before the end of this period, the owner must repay the award amount.
